As a musician myself, I understand the importance of showcasing yourself well as a performer.

On this page, I'm building some case studies from the bands and theatre groups who have trusted me to photograph their performances over the last few years.

If you are a musician or actor who needs photographs taken at a show, please do get in touch. I can shoot in a variety of styles and work with you so that the photographs match your specific "look". If you're looking for portraits, take a look here.

Riot jazz brass band

A long-time fan of Riot Jazz Brass Band, I was excited to hear that they would be performing at Manchester's Pangaea Festival - and by lucky coincidence, I would already be there, shooting for MSC Big Band and The Mancunian.

They played to a packed-out Academy 1, and put on an excellent show. The lighting - which so often can be very challenging in dark venues - was fortunately on my side, and as an official photographer for the festival, I was able to access the behind the scenes and on-stage areas, allowing me to get up extremely close to the band.

The massive MSC Big Band is my favourite university band in Manchester, and I've been asked back to photograph them at numerous performances since their inception.

Their penchant for performing in exceptionally dark venues (Antwerp Mansion, anyone?) has forced me to become extremely creative with lighting, and to push my gear and post-production editing to the absolute limits in order to achieve usable shots.

Fortunately, prime lenses, flashes, and dress-rehearsals are a thing.
